This elegant lace shawl was dreamed up for my alpaca lace yarn at a knitting retreat nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains amongst the clouds. I envisioned being wrapped in the cloud of softness created by this ultra-light lace-weight yarn.

The body is made with cellular stitch, which is simple and repetitive. The garter stitch-based cockleshell border is a traditional Shetland lace stitch pattern, and is knit perpendicular to the body, attached to the live stitches with a joining decrease.

The pattern provides instructions for a curved or straight shawl, and describes the option for sizing the shawl up or down.

The shawl can also be knit in a heavier lace yarn or a light fingering, which will result in a bigger shawl.
