Cockleshell Scarf
This pattern is
available from potluckyarn.com
for $5.00.
“This delicate pattern is used in Shetland almost exclusively for scarves, often with multi-colored stripes,” begins Noble, “so it is wonderfully appropriate for a hand-painted yarn. It is true knitted lace, patterned on both right side and wrong side rows. Two pieces are knitted from the cast-on up to the end of 11 pattern repeats. Leave the stitches on separate needles with WS together. You can graft the stitches in the traditional weaving method, but I prefer the Russian graft used in Orenburg shawls taught me by Galina Khmeleva, which I detail (herein).”
