Codroy Valley is a top-down circular yoke with valleys of texture and stranded colourwork. The textured pattern is worked flat and the stranded colourwork is in the round, and on the bias, with a small steek at the hem. Another great steeking project for a first time steeker!

Sample shown is size 3 on an 89cm / 35” bust, corresponding to 12.5 cm / 5” positive ease. Intended to be worn with 7 to 13 cm / 2.75 to 5” positive ease at bust. A schematic and list of measurements are provided.

Yarn

ArtFil Sweater (100% extra-fine merino wool, 200 metres / 220 yards per 100 grams) in main MC colour (Midnight) and contrast colours CC1 (Slate) and CC2 (Nomad). For ArtFil Sweater you will need 4 (5, 6, 6) (7, 7, 8) (8, 9, 9) skeins of main MC and 1 skein each of contrast colours CC1 and CC2. Specifically, the amounts are

MC: 800 (865, 1030, 1125) (1250, 1325, 1470) (1600, 1705, 1800) metres / 875 (945, 1125, 1230) (1365, 1450, 1605) (1750, 1865, 1970) yards;

CC1: 70 (70, 75, 80) (90, 95, 100) (105, 110, 120) metres / 75 (75, 80, 90) (100, 105, 110) (115, 120, 130) yards;

CC2: 45 (45, 45, 50) (50, 55, 55) (60, 65, 70) metres / 50 (50, 50, 55) (55, 60, 60) (65, 70, 75) yards.

Gauge

Stockinette stitch:
20 sts and 30 rows to 10cm / 4” with size A needles after blocking

Stranded colourwork:
20 sts x 11 rounds to 10cm × 4.5cm / 4” x 1.75” of the repeat in Chart A using size B needles after blocking

Needles and Notions

Gauge was achieved using

Size A: 4mm (US 6) in textured pattern, stripes
Size B: 4.5mm (US 7) in stranded colourwork pattern

You may or may not require the same needle sizes. Please swatch and block to determine your needle sizes.

You will also need:

Removable markers; stitch markers; scrap yarn or spare needles or interchangeable cables to hold stitches; darning needle (I love cross stitch needles for this!) and sturdy lace or sock yarn for reinforcing steeks (or a sewing machine), tapestry needle for sewing seams
