Coeden Hat and Cowl Set
The Coeden hat is a snug fitting beanie that covers your ears without coming too low down on your forehead. Also included in the pattern are instructions for making a co-ordinating cowl.
As the hat pattern is only available in one size - to fit head up to 57cm/ 22.5 inches I have included instructions for how to create a larger size (62cm/ 24.5in) using aran weight yarn instead of DK and the modifications you would need to make to the cowl pattern if you wanted to knit this in aran too.
Gauge in DK yarn is 20sts x 32 rows = 10cm
Gauge in aran weight yarn is 16sts x 26 rows = 10cm
I knitted the sample in handspun yarn but please feel free to use any DK (or aran for the larger size) yarn that makes your heart happy. The hat uses approximately 107m/ 117 yards of yarn in the DK weight and the cowl uses 180m/ 197yds of yarn in the DK weight. If you are working up the aran weight versions the hat and cowl will use 124m/ 136yds and 200m/ 219yds respectively.
