Coho and Lichen Crochet Scarf
This pattern was originally published as Fiber Rhythm Craft & Design’s contribution to the 2024 Rose City Yarn Crawl, March 7-10, 2024 in Portland, Oregon. This pattern is also available for download as part of the 2024 Pattern Collection: Pacific Northwest Flora & Fauna
Our choice of Coho and Lichen for the 2024 Rose City Yarn Crawl’s theme of Flora and Fauna of the Pacific Northwest was strongly influenced by two lovely colorways of SoleMate yarn from Freia Fine Handpaints. This fingering-weight yarn is made from Shaniko Merino wool which is raised in Eastern Oregon. The Coho colorway moves from dark gray to bright salmon colors, mimicking the changing colors of these fish over their life cycle. The green-grays and bright greens of the Lichen colorway can be found in our native Wolf lichen and Old Man’s Beard.
