Coincidence
Worked in sock yarn and topped with a vintage button, this versatile hat has a quirky charm and a comfortable fit. The deeply textured pattern works beautifully with the movement of colour in the hand-painted yarn, and is easy to knit using two different needle sizes. It requires one skein of Colinette Jitterbug (or a similar sock yarn) and comes in two sizes, to fit head circumferences up to 20(24) inches/51(61)cm.
There’s a funny story behind the name of this hat. I designed and knit it early in the summer of 2009, and put it aside, planning to release it late in the summer. About a month later, I visited Wendy Bernard’s blog, and saw that she was planning to release a similar hat design!
I was initially dismayed at this coincidence, but happily she and I came up with a plan to release our hats at the same time, and link to each other’s patterns. Though they have similarities, there are also differences in both the shape and design details. So go check out her blog and her pattern before deciding which pattern you want to buy. :)
