Coirë was the Quenya name of the last season of the year in the Reckoning of Rivendell. It lasted from February 11 to April 5. The Sindarin word for the season was Echuir. Both words mean “stirring”.
This was the time of year when the snow melted, and towards the end of it, the world had started its greening. The weather is unpredictable, with warmth and budding springtime one day, followed by snowfall the next.
I was inspired by running meltwater and the unpredictability of spring weather for this scarf. And the resulting scarf is lacy enough to be used from early autumn to late spring. It is thick enough to be warming in wintertime, yet the lacework makes it airy enough to be used in spring or autumn as well.
The scarf is worked in double knitted lace. Experience with lace knitting and double knitting is recommended for this pattern.
