Colias philodice, the clouded Sulphur butterfly, can be found in fields and meadows throughout Alberta. They enjoy feeding on alfalfa, lupins, and white clover. Sometimes this little butterfly is found at the edges of mud puddles as they seek out nutrients found in decaying vegetation, giving rise to the nickname “mudpuddle butterfly”. The colour of this pretty butterfly is the inspiration for this cowl.
