Collafirth
Hard to find ‘collar’ puns.. Collafirth is a very pretty looking place in Shetland. Or should that be on Shetland?
A sumptuous, glamorous collar. A little more formal than a cowl, but not wrappy like a scarf. Crocheted buttons mean you don’t even have to agonise over whether the buttons look good or have it sitting around until you go out and buy some. Although you could, obviously, put real buttons on if you wanted.
This is easy to crochet. It must be, as even we could work it out. But it looks far from simple. It grows very, very fast. You could easily finish it in an evening if you had a Winter wedding to go to the next day and wanted to jazz your coat up.
Tension: 2 pattern repeats (10 sts) and 2 ‘shells’ (3 rows) measure approximately 15cm(6”) wide and 8cm(3”) deep on 10mm hook.
We’ve given the tension over ‘unusual’ measurements as it’s far easier to measure a couple of patterns than it is to count how many stitches you have in 10cm. Tension is not crucial, as it’s just a collar, but if your tension is way out then it will affect the amount of yarn you need.
2 x 100g balls of the Mondial Kross Chunky (it took about ⅔rds of the 2nd ball).
Note: ALL crochet terms used are British. (The clue is in our name!)
