Inspired by my college-age daughters, I designed this cute, cabled hat. And then I started knitting it for their friends and sending them in care packages to school. Hence…The College Girl Hat!

This simple design looks more complicated than it is. Simple cables and ribbing stretch quite a bit, allowing the hat to fit almost any adult. Knit with one skein of bulky weight yarn on large needles, this hat works up quickly, making it a great choice for gift knitting.

Please note that one skein of the Purl Soho Super Soft Merino may not be sufficient to swatch for gauge AND complete a hat. My suggestion is to knit a small swatch, measure your gauge and then reuse the yarn in the hat if necessary. Or…buy two skeins and make a big yarn pom pom for the top of your College Girl Hat!
