Collywobbles is a fulled (semi-felted) handbag with a folded hem and an inset pocket. It features King Charles Brocade, a knit-purl texture stitch that was worn by King Charles I on the day of his execution. The tunic, said to be requested by the king so he wouldn’t be seen shivering by crowds gathered to witness his beheading, can be seen at the Museum of London. Besides showcasing this bit of gory yet intriguing knitting history, Collywobbles is a practical, sturdy bag, with a clean, timeless appeal.
