These fast and fun mittens feature three luscious shades of purple. Two strands are held double throughout; one strand is swapped for each wide stripe to create a bold gradient effect. The long cuffs feature a satisfying reversible slip-stitch rib—wear them long, scrunch them up, or fold them over depending on your coat or mood.

About 7¼“ (18.5 cm) hand circumference and 14” (35.5 cm) long.

Fingering weight (#1 Super Fine).

NEEDLES
Size U.S. 5 (3.75 mm): circular (cir) or double-pointed (dpn) for preferred method of circular knitting.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS
Markers (m); waste yarn; tapestry needle.

GAUGE
20 sts and 34 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in St st.
20 sts and 46 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Slipped Garter Rib.

NOTES
• Mittens are worked in the round from the bottom up.
• These mittens are worked using two strands of yarn held together throughout. One strand of yarn is changed every 24 rounds to create the gradient effect.
• When working with two strands of the same color, use the end from the center of the ball and the end from the outside of the ball.
