THE INSPIRATION
The Color Crush Shawl’s design is inspired by my own “color crush” … I am always enamored with the changing colors in nature as the seasons turn, especially with the rich hues of my most favorite season … Autumn.

Using a variety of mini-skeins for the accent colors, the Color Crush Shawl provides a beautiful opportunity to highlight any combination of colorways, so you can show off your favorites.

This shawl is the perfect way to showcase your Advent Mini Sets!

The shawl begins at the bottom as you cast on your main color, and it employs a meditative slipped-stitch repeat designed to highlight the different shades and how the colors play with one another, The gentle crescent shaping is a joy to knit, created using simple short rows on a background of garter stitch.

THE YARN
The Color Crush Shawl was a delight to design and knit using yarn from Red Sock Blue Sock Yarn. The sample shawl uses:
Red Sock Blue Sock Yarn Co Comfort Sock (80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon, 420 yards/384 m per 115 g)
and
Red Sock Blue Sock Yarn Co Autumn Mini-Skein Collection (80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon, 90 yards/82.5 m per 25 g mini-skein); 1 set of 5 mini-skeins.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
• US 5/3.75 mm circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• Darning Needle
• Stitch Markers, 2 total
• Row Counter (or scrap paper)
• Crochet hook for attaching fringe (optional)

GAUGE
20 sts and 40 rows = 4”/10 cm, worked flat in garter stitch after blocking.

Use a needle that produces a blocked fabric with a look and drape that you are happy with. Gauge is not crucial to this pattern, but keep in mind that variance in gauge will also affect the amount of yarn used as well as the overall size of your shawl.
