This pattern is available for free.

This is a pattern for a two-colour fisherman’s rib hat done on a standard-gauge double-bed machine. This beautiful little hat (sized for everyone in the family) is easy to work, very stretchy, and reversible! The inside and outside of the stripe look quite different so you can get different looks. A yarn with a small halo will give a nice shadow-through effect.

You need a sock-weight yarn (450m/100g). About 50g and a 20g scrap for the baby size, more like 100g and a 40g ball for the adult size, and somewhere in between for the rest.

This pattern is a reworking of the freely available Color-Dipped Hat pattern published by Purl Soho - if you are looking for the hand-knit version of that pattern, please search for their version.

I have completely rewritten the pattern for machine. The machine version is seamed and includes a different technique for decreasing at the crown. All credit to Purl Soho for the original idea, and obviously any errors are all mine.
