Garter stitch rippled and enhanced with bands of simple lace provides the canvas for the progression of a special speckled gradient, a fade set, one or more solids, or any sort of combination that suits your yarn and your taste.
Skills required:
• Increasing
• Simple lace
Notions:
• Locking markers
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Blocking supplies
Yardage details:
See chart in last photo (click to enlarge) for yardage for each section. The low end is the amount used in the sample; the high end has a 10% cushion added. Please note that this pattern was not intended for the solid gradient sets with mini skeins (125-140 yards) - those skeins will not have sufficient yardage for complete sections in one color. With the speckled gradient sets, you do not have to wait for a section change to switch colors.
Sample shown was knit with Sunshine Yarns Luxury Sock in the Shooting Star speckled gradient (6 mini skeins = 770 yards) plus 125 yards of an undyed skein. After knitting with the undyed yarn through the first lace section, each gradient color was knit until it ran out, regardless of where that was in the pattern.
