These socks feature a unique modular construction beginning with the leg knit sideways. Chevrons, waves, eyelets, and welts decorate the leg of the sock as you knit flat. The leg is then seamed together with a striped I-cord bind off. The cuff is picked up from the leg with 2x2 ribbing and color pop bind off. Choose between a garter stitch or two-color brioche heel flap to add another color pop accent as you work your way toward the foot. Short rows in garter stitch are knit flat with colorful eyelets for the top foot. Then the bottom foot is knitted separately in stockinette stitch while being modularly attached to the top foot fabric. A final color pop toe completes these adventurous Westknits socks. The pattern includes step-by-step video tutorials demonstrating all of the stitches and construction elements, so you can confidently knit your own Color Popportunity Socks.

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4, 5)

Finished Measurements
6.5 (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5)″ / 17 (19, 22, 24, 27)cm leg and foot circumference. Measurements taken after blocking. These are the measurements of the sock.

Socks are designed to fit an actual foot circumference of 7.5 (8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5)″ / 19 (22, 24, 27, 29)cm. The socks are designed to fit with negative ease. Choose a size with a finished foot circumference measurement that is approximately 1″ / 2.5cm smaller than your actual foot circumference. Measure your foot around the center part of your foot. For example, if your actual foot circumference is 9.5″ / 24cm, then knit Size 3 of the sock. The sock should fit nice and snug on your foot with negative ease.

The length of the foot is easily customizable.

Yardage
MC - 437yds / 400m (1 skein 100g)
CC1 - 92yds / 84m (1 mini skein 20g)
CC2 - 92yds / 84m (1 mini skein 20g)
CC3 - 92yds / 84m (1 mini skein 20g)

This design will also look amazing with 1 self-striping yarn instead of the 3 CC’s. If you use a yarn like Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy, then you can use one ball (100g) for all of the instructions that use a CC (CC1, CC2, & CC3). You will need about 279yds / 255m total for the CC. Get creative with color and customize your Color Popportunity Socks!

Needles
US 1 / 2.25mm DPNs or size needed to obtain gauge

You can use a circular needle if you prefer. US 1 / 2.25 circular needle in 40″ / 100cm length or size needed to obtain gauge. If you are using the Magic Loop method, then you will also need 1 spare double pointed needle in the same size or smaller for holding sts or you could use 1 spare circular needle in the same size or smaller for holding sts.

If you want to knit both socks simultaneously, then you will need two sets of DPNs or circular needles.

Notions
3 stitch markers, tapestry needle

Gauge
32 sts & 52 rnds = 4″ / 10cm in stockinette stitch after blocking
32 sts & 64 rows = 4″ / 10cm in garter stitch after blocking

The socks are knit with a firm tidy gauge. You may need to go down one or two needle sizes to achieve gauge and that’s okay.
