You will need a 3.50mm hook for sizes Preemie/Newborn up to 3-6 months, a 4.00mm hook for 6-12 months and 1-3 years, and 3.50mm, 4.00mm, and 5.00mm hook for 3-10 years up to XL Adult.

Colors listed in pattern are a mere suggestion. You can switch these colors out and make your own pony hat. Even for those Bronies out there!
