Every new design has a story of some kind. There’s not much of a story behind this one. Yarn was bought with the intention of knitting socks. As happens from time to time, the yarn had different ideas. It wanted to be a beret instead. So it became a very stretchy, very fun beret.

This is a wonderful hat for those colorful skeins of yarn that you just had to have but aren’t quite sure what to do with. The simplicity of this beret is absolutely perfect for showcasing those lovely yarns. It’s also perfect for handspun yarns.

The pattern consists of four pages of written instructions. Stitch counts are given to aid in keeping track of where you are. Basic knit skills are needed……knit, purl, knit 2 together, knit into the front and back of a stitch, elastic cast on of choice, knitting an I-cord knitting in the round. It knits up fairly quickly and the I-cord finish gives an opportunity to add a fun and creative flair.
