Lovely colour block garter stitch cushion, using garter stitch intarsia (instructions on this technique are in the pattern).

Garter stitch creates a wonderfully thick fabric, and the intarsia technique used creates seamless colour joins to make a stylish addition to your home.

We used DROPS Alaska yarn, which is a dense 100% wool aran weight yarn, available in some really wonderful shades. It’s not a washable yarn, but because of the nature of wool, it shouldn’t need anything more than a very rare handwash.

We used a 38 x 38 cm cushion pad and 4.5mm knitting needles. You will also require 8 poppers (press stud fastenings).

This is a lovely item to knit, because of the colour changes, it makes it so much more interesting than standard garter stitch, but is as straight forward, once the intarsia technique has been mastered.
