Colour Block Scarf
I wanted a scarf for my little girl which was chunky enough around her neck that it didn’t need to be tight to be warm, long enough to knot in place, short enough not to dangle in her way as she played. And here it is!
This scarf is looks tricky enough to garner compliments from everyone, simple enough to compliment any outfit, and quick enough to knit in case of a cold snap. Any worsted weight or aran weight yarn will do keeping in mind that you are knitting to a measurement: simply knit as many stitches as you need to achieve your width and keep knitting to length. Easy peasy!
The tapered ends lend themselves to tassels which give a lovely weight, pompons, or a simple point.
Suitable for confident beginners and onwards, this is a great piece to build your skills.
Because of the construction, gauge is not particularly important. Just enjoy knitting it!
Updated in June 2016 to include diagrams for completing the point if not adding tassels.
Wool in Essie’s sample is Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 ply in Koala and Lotus. Finley’s sample is Augustbird’s Baby Fairy Wren and White Gum Wool’s Sedge, both dk weight.
