A really great beginner sock pattern worked in aran yarn; it’s fast and really easy to visualise construction if you’re new to socks.

Being thick and stretchy, size and gauge is not essential, the cuff and foot length are easily lengthened or shorted for your ideal size.

The simple cable design, and colour block cuff and toe add a nice feature.
