Colour Field is a fun scarf with diagonal edges. Because it is knitted in simple Garter Stitch, you can concentrate on the shaping. Marling offers a great opportunity to play with colours.

Needles: US 10 / 6 mm straight or 24–40” / 60–100 cm long circular needles.

GAUGE
15 sts x 28 rows to 4” / 10 cm in Garter Stitch with MC and CC held together, after blocking.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES
Marling refers to the technique of knitting two strands of yarn together at the same time as if they were a single strand. In the pattern where it reads ‘with MC + CC’ knit with both a strand of the MC and a strand of the CC to create a marled fabric. When switching from double-stranded (marled) sections to single-stranded (un-marled) sections, the CC should be left at the front of the work ready to knit the next row.

NOTES
This scarf can be knitted with lots of small fragments of leftover DK-weight yarns in place of the CC Lore Minis for the marled sections. Each marled shape takes approx. 23 yds / 21 m (approx. 9 g) of DK-weight yarn.

Two strands of a lace-weight mohair can be used instead of the proposed MC. However, please note that this will increase meterage requirements. When holding several strands together, be careful that none of the strands are dropped.

CONSTRUCTION
This scarf is knitted from end to end and consists of alternating marled and un-marled sections.

MODIFICATIONS
The length of the scarf can be lengthened or shortened by adding or taking away blocks.
