Colour your own Fair Isle Tam
This pattern is available as a
free Ravelry download
This is a basic 25cm (10 inch) eight-point, traditional tam pattern for you to add your own designs. It was inspired by Sheila McGregor’s ‘Traditional Fair Isle Knitting’ where she has pages and pages of beautiful designs for colour-work but no actual pattern for a tam to use them on.
Gauge and Sizing
8 1/2 stitches per inch or per 2 1/2 cm
9 rows per inch or per 2.5 cm
The tam is 26cm in diameter / 10 inches and will fit an average woman’s head.
I have also written several specific tam designs which are also available as free downloads. Enjoy creating!
