The Colour Your World socks are great to use up all your scraps from past sock projects. If you’ve only done plain stockinette socks, this is a perfectly suitable first colourwork sock project. Although the pattern uses Judy’s Magic Cast-on, the German Short-row heel and a 1x1 rib cuff, you can easily substitute with your favourite heel, cuff and toe, as well as converting from toe-up to a cuff-down construction.

If you knit these socks in many different colours, you can choose between either carrying all strands through the sock or weaving in a lot of ends. I recommend beginners to weave in the ends, or simply use fewer colours.

I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Ravelry group ‘Skeindeer Knits’. It’s the best place for swift support.

Yarn
Because this is a scrap yarn project, yarn amounts will vary. I suggest 1 x 50 g skein of about 200 m / 219 yds in 4ply/ fingering weight yarn for the main colour. Use a minimum of 4 colours.

Yarn suggestions: Drops Fabel, Regia 4ply, Opal Uni Solid 4ply, West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply, Cygnet Truly Wool Wich 4ply, or any other hard wearing 4ply fingering weight wool yarn with around 25% nylon with about 200 m / 219 per 50 g.

Needles
Gauge-size needles for stockinette and stranded colourwork, either long circulars for magic loop, 9” circulars or DPNs.

The sample was made using 2.5 mm (US 1 1/2) for stockinette and 2.75 mm (US 2) for stranded colourwork.

Gauge
(35, 34, 33, 32) sts = 10 cm / 4” in stranded colourwork and stockinette stitch.

Sizes in women’s shoe sizes
UK: (4, 5, 6, 7)
US: (6, 7, 8, 9)
Euro: (36-37, 37-38, 38-39, 39-40)
The sample is knit in the 4th size and worn with zero ease.

Sock circumference: (20, 20.6, 21.2, 21.9 cm / (7.9, 8.1, 8.3, 8.6)”
Different sizes are achieved with different gauges by using bigger needles for bigger sizes and smaller needles for smaller sizes.
