Colourshift Tee
The Colourshift Tee is a soft, petite top showcasing a classic raglan silhouette. This top-down knitted garment promises a relaxing yet engaging knitting experience, characterized by its distinct striped colour-block pattern. You’ll begin by casting on the stitches for the neck using an elegant tubular cast-on and working the neck ribbing. Then you’ll further enhance the design through intricate German short rows shaping, improving the fit, while executing simultaneous raglan increases.
The Colourshift Tee knitting pattern offers an opportunity for colour play. Initially, the raglan increases are completed in the main colour, gradually incorporating the contrast colour. Here, you can decide whether to opt for a more subtle colour shift or introduce a bold, poppy colour. This provides even the more colour-shy knitters with an opportunity to try adding a fun, vibrant accent. As you progress with the knitting pattern, the sleeves and body are separated, but the striped sequence remains consistent across both elements. The finishing touch comes in the form of a neatly twisted rib on the cuffs and hem, completed with a classic tubular bind-off.
SIZING
This knitting pattern includes ten sizes, with a finished chest circumference of 82 (88) 96 (102) 110 (120) 128 (136) 146 (154) cm. For an optimal fit, please choose a size that is 0-10 cm larger than your actual chest circumference. Comprehensive measurements are included in the knitting pattern.
YARN
The recommended yarn for this pattern is Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (70% mohair - 30% silk, 25 g = 225 m), held triple-stranded.
The estimated yarn weights are as follows:
Main Colour (Cream) - 100 (150) 175 (200) 225 (250) 275 (275) 300 (300)g.
Contrast Colour 1 (Quince) - 50 (75) 75 (75) 100 (100) 125 (125) 150 (150)g.
Contrast Colour 2 (Pearl Grey) - 25 (25) 50 (50) 50 (50) 50 (50) 75 (75)g.
Please note that these are estimates. Individual yarn consumption may vary based on your choice of yarn, gauge, size, and desired sleeve/body length.
Possible yarn substitutes include any other silk mohair, such as Isager Silk Mohair or Filcolana Tilia, held triple. Alternatively, any fingering + lace or DK weight yarn that meets the gauge can be used.
You can also opt to use a single strand of unspun yarn, such as Nutiden yarn from Höner och Eir. For this, you will need approximately 75 (80) 115 (130) 145 (170) 185 (205) 220 (245) g in total.
GAUGE
The gauge for this knitting pattern is 10 cm = 20 sts and 26 rounds on a 3.5 mm needle in the stockinette stitch, after blocking. The swatch should be knit in the round.
