Ideal as a thick, soft and comfy newborn baby kick mat or play rug for an older baby.

Simple garter stitch knitted with two strands using a colourwash technique to blend the stripes. Sample shown is in DK double knitting yarn but pattern can be adapted for heavier weights of yarn to create a bigger, thicker play rug if desired.

Instructions are given for repeating colours as shown, plus single colour repeat or mirror image repeat of colours.
