Columbia Glacier Beanie
If you love texture and knit-looking stitches in your crochet work, the Columbia Glacier Beanie has been designed with all of this in mind. The hat has also been design to closely mimic the trendy and popular “CC Beanies”
The pattern is worked in rounds and rows, starting with the band and working your way up the hat to the top. There are detailed instructions that have been peer reviewed by several crocheters.
This pattern is best suited for an experienced crocheter who is familiar with slip stitching, post work and, working in different loops of stitches to achieve the textured/knit-look in this hat. The stitches used throughout the pattern are half double crochet (hdc), slip stitch (slst) and single crochet (sc)
You’ll need a “lighter” worsted weight (4) yarn such as Caron Simply Soft with an H Hook (5.00mm) and and I Hook (5.50mm). This hat has adjustments outlined within the pattern for working with a DK/Light Worsted (3) weight yarn, which will require the use of an H Hook and an F Hook (3.75mm) or G Hook (4.00mm). Worsted weight Yarns like Red Heart Soft can be used as well, you’ll need to decrease the initial band length to around 19” for best fit. The resulting hat will be more relaxed and slouchy.
Thank you for your interest in this pattern, I hope you enjoy it!
