Combley Mitts
A fingerless version of mittens knitted by Mum for my sister and I when we were young.
They are designed for speedy knitting when fingers need urgent warming.
Instructions are given for working in a range of sizes and weights of yarn.
A top down construction gives an elegant finish to thumbs and a ribbed body ensures a snug fit.
Named for the woods on the Isle of Wight where we collected sweet chestnuts.
Size
Sized to fit hands from extra small to extra large
Yarn
This pattern is suitable for yarns from chunky to sock weight
Tension and needle sizes
The pattern is designed to be worked at a tighter tension than that recommended on the ball band to ensure that the mitt is extra cosy.
