Com’è Profondo il Mare is a simple t-shirt, wearing it is as soothing as knitting it. The title of the pattern is also a song by Lucio Dalla (1943 - 2012), one of the most celebrated amongst Italian song writers, the translation is How Deep Is The Sea but it’s about the history and evolution of mankind. I designed it to wear it in summer, with my jeans or white trousers, or over a long skirt (or your shorts, if you’re young or bold enough). It has a wide and deep neckline, and it’s boxy and a little oversize. Twisted ribs are the main detail in this pattern, repeated at the borders and over the shoulders, they give verticality to an otherwise very square design. Its construction is inspired to the top down contiguous method by Susie Myers. (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/contiguous). The yarn, Sira, by Borgo De’ Pazzi, is a silk - bamboo blend, soft, bright and fresh, due to the predominance of bamboo, and it has a very interesting color card.

Com’è Profondo il Mare è una maglietta semplice e rilassante da fare e da portare. L’ho pensata per indossarla nelle serate estive, su un jeans o un pantalone bianco, o su una gonna lunga e, per le più giovani, anche sugli shorts, di giorno. Ha uno scollo ampio e profondo, senza esagerare, come piace a me e una linea dritta, un po’ oversize, ma sempre con moderazione. Il dettaglio che la caratterizza è la presenza ripetuta e molto evidente delle coste ritorte, che troviamo sui bordi, ma anche sulle spalle e lungo i fianchi, a dare un po’ di slancio e verticalità a un capo altrimenti molto quadrato. La costruzione è top down, ispirata al metodo contiguous di Susie Myers. Il filato, Sira, di Borgo De’ Pazzi, è un misto di bambù e seta, morbido, luminoso e fresco, grazie alla predominanza del bambù nella composizione, con una cartella colori tutta da scoprire, ricca di toni neutri, ma con interessanti sfumature brillanti e vivaci tra il rosa, il verde e l’azzurro.
La maglietta nelle foto è indossata con un agio di circa 10 cm.
