These work in single or double bed fabrics. Many double bed fabrics won’t require fin- ishing at the edges which is nice. The ponchos may be knitted in 2 pieces or in 4. If knitted in 2, there will be in- creases up one side of the front or back, a span of straight knitting that runs over the shoulder, then decreases down same side of the front or back as the in- creases were on the other side. The 2nd piece is knitted as a mirror image of the first. The 4 piece alternative starts each piece at the shoulder, at the widest part of the knitting, followed by a bit of straight knitting, ther decreases down one edge. 2 are knitted with decreases down the right edge and 2 with decreases down the left. The wide areas are seamed at the shoulders. Because all of the edges are worked with decreases, they all look alike and may not need any finishing Un-trimmed edges in full needle rib are shown in the picture. YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE Any machine may be used. Sizes finish to 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80” in the bust area which fit bust measurements on the wearer of up to 20, 25, 33,40,48, 54”. The goal is to get a poncho at least 1.5 times the actual bust measurement but the fit is somewhat forgiving SO it is not necessary to be overly fussy about either size or gauge.
