'Comfrey' Pram Suit
It has long been believed that a child who spends a lot of time outdoors is healthier; to that end, mothers would leave their baby to sleep in the pram outside in all weathers. But the baby wouldn’t sleep if it was cold, so on top of the baby-gro went a pair of long, knitted leggings, a jacket, a hat and often a pair of mittens.
This design is typical of those seen in the 1940s and 1950s and is still ideal for taking a baby out in the pushchair on a cold day.
