Common Everlasting
Botanical name: Chrysocephalum apiculatum
This beautiful yellow wildflower can be found in all states of Australia. Its cheery yellow flower heads are instantly recognisable and dry beautifully. Common Everlastings generally flower in Spring in grasslands and open woodlands, but can flower at other times of the year.
Construction:
These are a super quick and simple knit; requiring just basic knitting skills. The flower head is constructed from a half pom pom, with the petals using just knit stitch. The flowers are assembled onto lengths of i-cord and the short pieces of i-cord are used to create the leaves.
Skill Level:
Easy
This pattern was originally released as part of WARM: a large-scale collaborative knitting project that explored why the earth is warming and what we can do to make a positive change.
Knitters of all skill levels contributed to this large-scale piece that was exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in September 2016. It now has a permanent home in the Geelong Wool Museum.
