Streams of sunlight trickled through the car window, a little brook punctuated by stretches of shadow from the late October trees. They haven’t lost their leaves yet, and the warm tones of turned leaves formed a patchwork quilt along the highway’s edges. The wind sang of soil-sweet fern, fallen leaves, & fresh hay. Local farm stands sporadically dot the roadside, a potpourri of assorted pumpkins & crisp apple laid out in welcome. She shifted her legs, stiff from the long car ride. At her feet two faded canvas bags rested, empty. She promised herself she would only fill those two bags–oh, and perhaps get one extra item- some beeswax candles, or a small woven throw for the house. Nothing too big. The car rumbles & lurches over uneven grass as they reach the fairgrounds parking. Rhinebeck. They’ve arrived.
Last year, she worked so hard on a complex piece- to show everyone how beautiful it could be, in gold with vines & honeycomb draping gently across the chest, a modern batwing shape. It had been more stressful than she wanted to admit. This year, though, she was a year older. A year more settled within her own skin. This year she would wear her Rhinbeck sweater with ease, oh, so much positive ease. Both kinds of ease. ‘It will be simple this year. No pressure, cleanly tailored, and a little casual. Filled with love of community and softness. Just like me’ she thought to herself.

Intended to be worn with 5-10”/ 15-25 cm positive ease. To select your best size, add desired ease to full bust and then pick the closest size based on finished measurements on page 21. Sample shown in size 44”/ 111 cm on a 34”/ 86 cm bust with 10”/ 25 cm positive ease.

Fronts and back are knit flat, joined at the shoulders with a 3 needle bind off, then seamed at the sides. Sleeves are picked up and knit in the round.
