Novelty socks are trendy now. When giving my family or friends a gift, I can never go wrong with a pair of fun socks. Socks with pictures spice up your day without overwhelming those around you. The only thing that would make such a gift even better would be if the socks were handmade. Knitters love fiber-bearing animals so llamas are the perfect subject for fun, hand knit socks.

The Como Te Llama Socks are constructed from the toe up in the round. After completing the heel, the llama pattern is worked back and forth using intarsia on both sides of the leg. The sides of the cuff are joined back together and worked in the round. Finally the back of the leg is seamed shut and the eyes are sewn on using duplicate stitch.

Main Color (MC): 1/2 skein Cascade Yarns Heritage Sock Yarn (75% merino superwash, 25% nylon) 3.5 ounces, 437 yards, color 5618 (natural);
Contrasting Color (CC): 1/3 skein Cascade Yarns Heritage Paints (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon) 3.5 ounces, 437 yards, color 9902 (stormy night);
Eyes: 2 yards of Serenity Sock Weight (50% superwash merino, 25% rayon, 25% nylon), black.

NEEDLES
U.S. size 1 (2.25 mm) 40-inch circular needle (or preferred needle type). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Pattern assumes knowledge of how to arrange needles to knit socks using either the magic loop method, double pointed needles, or two circular needles.
