Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on US size 15 circular knitting needles.
DIRECTIONS FOR FIVE SIZES:
Approximate sizes after blocking…
Small Throw: 35.25” wide x 40” long
Medium Throw: 38” wide x 50” long
Large Throw: 43.5” wide x 54” long
Queen Bed Runner: 24.25” wide x 80” long
King Bed Runner: 24.25” wide x 96” long
Dimensions do not include length added by 6” long tassels.
It’s easy to make any of the blanket sizes longer. Pattern includes estimates for additional yardage needed to make blankets longer.
SKILL LEVEL: Very Easy / Beginner
You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a row by row knitting pattern, bind off stitches and weave in ends.
Pattern includes detailed step-by-step photo illustrated instructions for making tassels.
For best results, blocking of finished blanket is recommended.
SUPER BULKY YARN:
Small Throw: 540 - 565 yards
Medium Throw: 700 - 725 yards
Large Throw: 900 - 940 yards
Queen Bed Runner: 740 - 770 yards
King Bed Runner: 900 - 940 yards
Yardage for 4 tassels included. If more tassels are desired, add at least 15 yards per additional 6” tassel.
This pattern will work well with many super bulky weight yarns. I loved using Lion Brand Hometown USA in ‘Dallas Grey’. This yarn is very soft and has an attractive subtle sheen that gives a modern vibe.
You may also experiment with knitting two strands of bulky or worsted weight yarn together…remember you will need about twice as much yardage!
Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to add length to your blanket.
GAUGE:
Stockinette stitch with US size 15 needles: approximately 9 stitches & 11 rows = 4”
Exact gauge is not essential. However, for desired appearance it should be close.
NEEDLES:
In order to accommodate the large number of stitches, long circular needles are highly recommended.
Written pattern with row by row instructions. This pattern uses standard U.S. knitting terms.
