Echinacea, more commonly known as Coneflower, is one of my favorite flowers in the daisy family (Asteraceae). Many people love echinacea for it’s herbal and medicinal properties, however I’m a fan of it’s silhouette and year round presence in the garden. In spring and summer it bursts forth in large swaths of purple, pink, yellow, and red, attracting bees and birds to it’s lush blooms. In the winter and fall, against the freezing weather, the balls left behind by the cones stand tall against the quiet, still landscape reminding us of the growth and melt to come.

This design is inspired by the coneflower and it’s shape, quite literally drawing inspiration in the bobbles and dip stitches to create a floral motif along the leg of the sock.

This pattern is written for three sizes - 7”, 8”, and 9” foot circumference.

This design assumes an intermediate level of sock knitting and construction.
