Fall in love with knit-look stitches with this cute crocheted hot water bottle cover! The Confetti Hot Water Bottle Cover is designed to fit a standard two litre hot water bottle; the finished cover measures approximately 20cm (8”) wide and 35cm (13 1/2”) long. This hot water bottle cover is crocheted in continuous rounds from the bottom up using split single crochet stitches, a simple variation on single crochet stitches (US terminology). Removable via the opening at the bottom of the cover, shaping around the base holds the bottle in place, with additional shaping around the bottle neck.

A satisfyingly quick project that works up fast thanks to the use of chunky weight yarn, this pattern is suitable for intermediate crocheters, and those familiar with the basics who want to try something new. You will need to be familiar with single crochet stitches (US), and have a basic understanding of crochet stitch anatomy. Written in English using U.S. terminology, this pattern features photos to illustrate the trickier parts of the pattern, along with links to YouTube video clips to demonstrate stitches and techniques.

You will need:

  • approximately 145-160m (158-175yds) of chunky (bulky, #5) weight yarn.
  • an 8mm hook (or size required to achieve gauge)
  • stitch marker
