This shawl is full of texture, almost a sampler shawl. Knitted in DK yarn it feels warm and cosy, large enough to be wrapped around the shoulders and still not too big for wearing like a scarf.
Different yarns will give different results for this shawl. I’ve made 2 samples in two different fibre mixes and to receive the same blocked gauge I needed to use different size needles for the different yarns. It’s important to block the swatches as different fibres behave differently.

Sample in Merino-silk
Needles: 4 mm (US6)
Gauge: unblocked garter stitch 23 sts/10cm, blocked 16.5 sts/10 cm
Yarn: Botanical YarnDK 50/50 merino/silk approx. 212m/100g, 1 skein of each colour. I used approx. 89-91g of each colour for the sample.
Colour A: Sweet Pea Ripple
Colour B: Sweet Pea Candyfloss
Colour C: Hydrangea Aspera
Notions: stitch marker
Finished measurements: 208cm wingspan, 67 cm deep
Sample in BFL
Needles: 4.5 mm (US7)
Gauge: unblocked garter stitch 20 sts/10cm, blocked 16.5 sts/10 cm
Yarn: Botanical Yarn DK 100% BFL 225m/100g, 1 skein of each colour. I used just under 90g of each colour for the sample.
Colour A: Papaver Orientale ‘Miss Piggy’
Colour B: Papaver Somniferum ‘Black Paeony’
Colour C: Papaver rhoeas ‘Amazing Grey’
