ABOUT PATTERN
Fancy a little sparkle? Want to amp up your flare game? You got the right pattern! The Copenhagen pants, as the name suggests, get their inspiration from the bold and the colourful fashion from the streets of Copenhagen. The stylish Copenhageners are not afraid to make a statement with their clothes, and clearly neither are you!

Level of difficulty: Advanced beginner

SIZES
1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) 9

Model wears size 3 with 16 cm 6.25 in of negative ease to waist circumference. The sample pants are knitted in 32 inch length. The model is 174 cm 5’9’’ tall.

Recommended ease is approx. 15 cm 6 in

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
6 mm US 10 / 60-80 cm 24-32 in circular needles
6 mm US J-10 crochet hook

Same size or smaller circular needle in the same length for the provisional crochet cast on

GAUGE
Flat in stockinette stitch using 6 mm US 10 needles:
17 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 in

If you tend to have large differences in your knitting tension between flat vs round, it is smart to work a test swatch also in the round and adjust the needle size if needed to keep the gauge consistent.

SUGGESTED YARN
600 (650) 700 (800) 900 (950) 1000 (1050) 1150 g

Flash It by Hobbii / 80% Viscose, 20% Metallic fiber / 90 m = 50 g
4: Medium: Aran
Worked with one strand of yarn

Or

Skacel Vegas Color / 80% Rayon, 20% Metallic fiber / 99 m = 25 g
2: Fine: Sport
Worked with two strands of yarn held together

INFO: The estimated yarn consumption is calculated according to 32 inch length and includes enough yarn for an additional 20 x 20 cm 8 x 8 in gauge swatch. If you make your pants shorter (28, 30 inches) or longer (34 inches) the overall consumption can vary.

WORKFLOW:
The Copenhagen pants are worked from top down, in the round, with circular needles.

You will start by working the waistband.

From there, you will increase stitches towards the hips and once you reach the correct length, the stitches are divided into two legs and new stitches will be casted on for the crotch seam.

The legs are worked in the round, separately. You will leave half of the stitches for the other leg on hold, while working the first one. You will then get the stitches from hold, pick up and knit stitches from the crotch seam and work the second leg identically to the first one.

Happy knitting,
Milena
