Sara Lamb used handspun pygora yarn to create this warm yet breathable cowl with a simple openwork pattern and an applied lace edging.

Finished size: 21¾“ (55 cm) circumference and 12” (30.5 cm) tall; to fit an adult.

Yarn: Laceweight pygora 2-ply yarn, about 225 yd (206 m).

Fiber: 100% pygora batt from Rainbow Farms Pygora.

Spinning: Singles: Spun Z (right or clockwise) using a 15–16 gram top-whorl spindle.

Plying: S (left or counterclockwise) on a heavier top-whorl spindle, 2 plies.

Yarn measurements: Yards per pound: 1,800. Wraps per inch: 18.

Suggested substitution: Simply Shetland Silk & Lambswool (65% silk noil, 35% Shetland lambswool; 235 yd (215 m)/50 g).

Needles: Size 3 (3.25 mm): 16” (40 cm) circular (cir) needle and one doublepointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Waste yarn; marker (m); tapestry needle.
