Meet Copperwing, a shawl that’s all about simple stitches coming together to create something beautiful. With this pattern, you get to mix fingering weight single ply with stitch defining sock yarn to create a marriage of textures in a unique triangle shawl.
Construction:
Copperwing is a two-color triangle shawl that begins with an i-cord cast on. You’ll make symmetrical increases along each edge and on both sides of the center stitch. The pattern starts with an easy faux cable motif that’s simple to repeat and looks great after blocking. As you approach the bottom third of the shawl, you’ll change colors and textures, moving into a slip stitch pattern. The final section features faux bobbles for a bit of fun detail at the bottom. The pattern includes both charts and written instructions for ease of use.
Video Tutorials:
To help you navigate Copperwing’s distinctive features, we’ve prepared video tutorials that focus on the straightforward techniques behind its faux cables and engaging slip stitches. Suitable for knitters of all levels, these guides showcase stitches that are not only simple to learn but also create stunning results.
Yarn & Fiber Characteristics:
Copperwing’s texture truly showcases the yarn’s character. The tonal-solid Bear Paw Sock yarn brings the faux cables to life with distinct texture, complemented by the single-ply Foxy Lady yarn, whose soft speckles perfectly accentuate the smooth slip stitch inlay. This combination of sock and single ply offers both tactile pleasure and visual appeal.
Copperwing pays tribute to the power of simple stitches, turning knits and purls into a one-of-a-kind fabric. Explore your yarn collection and mix skeins to add a personal twist to this adaptable shawl.
