Coral Reef Cowl
The Coral Reef Cowl, with its deep blues, vibrant reds, and muted greens and violets, was designed to celebrate and bring awareness to the unique beauty of the Great Barrier Reef—one of the world’s most extraordinary natural wonders.
A great stash buster, Coral Reef is knitted using fingering weight yarn, offering endless opportunities to use up fingering weight scraps. As a rule of thumb, the ratio of the main colour to the other colours is approximately half-half, with around an extra 10g/ 0.35oz for each edge.
CONSTRUCTION
The cowl is knitted in the round, in one piece. For the confident knitter, written instructions and video tutorial suggestions for a seamless picot edge are given on the designer’s note section. On the main instructions, the picot edge hem is folded and seamed at the end. The main body is knitted using slip stitches, with only one colour worked at a time. The project is easy and very fun to knit, and you can see the colours creating this exciting gradient as you go!
