Coraline Shawl
Cora, Wyoming is a small community that sits amidst the spectacular backdrop of the Wind River Mountain Range. Rugged and remote, but also beautiful, it’s a place where homesteader cabins still dot the landscape. The town is also the namesake for Mountain Meadow Wool Mill’s premium-blend, ranch-traceable Cora yarn for which the Coraline Shawl was specifically designed. The Coraline Shawl is a rectangular shawl that features alternating areas of Fancy Openwork, Reverse Stockinette, and Slipped Three-Stitch Cables, as well as a striking Seed Stitch Cable that runs from the beginning to the end and creates a dramatic focal point that anchors the shawl. The Coraline Shawl includes open, lacy areas that are contrasted with contoured cablework, which join together into an eye-catching accessory that will complement your cold-weather wardrobe.
This shawl is knitted flat in one piece and is composed of a 28-row repeating pattern. The pattern, as written, results in a shawl with a finished size of approximately 24” x 58”. However, if you wish to increase the length of your shawl, you could easily do so by increasing the number of times you repeat the 28-row sequence, which would also increase the yardage and require additional yarn. If you choose to knit with a yarn other than Cora, any other worsted-weight yarn in colors of your choice can be substituted and is appropriate for this project.
