Extended Tunisian Knit Stitch is often called “Corded Stitch” as it looks like you’ve worked single crochets over a piece of cord. It’s one of the Tunisian stitches that does not curl, and is quite attractive on both the right and wrong side, so it is ideal for scarves.

The sample scarf is crocheted in Cascade Venezia Sport, which rendered a scarf approximately 5” x 68”. But you can use any weight yarn with an appropriate size hook, adjusting the number of stitches between the peaks and valleys of the pattern to obtain the desired width for your scarf.

This scarf was designed as a teaching project. The pattern includes two versions, one a little easier to crochet, the other requiring a bit more attention but which renders a more attractive finished product and requires slightly less yarn.

If you download this pattern, please make at least one scarf for your favorite charity. This scarf was designed for a charity workshop featuring the Red Scarf Project, and we want to keep paying forward on this project.

Please do not claim this design as your own, and do not sell your finished scarves, but gift them to ones you love or those who need a little love.
