This crochet pattern is for your very own Corduroy Bear, of the classic children’s book by Don Freeman.

This easy (but not beginner) crochet pattern is written in US terms and is designed for crocheters with a solid understanding of simple crochet, and who don’t mind a little bit of sewing. Lots of photos are included to help you along the way.

You will need:
• 100 grams each, size 5 bulky yarn in Light Brown, Green
• 30 grams size 5 bulky yarn in Light Beige
• 10 grams size 4 worsted weight yarn in Purple for optional pocket
• Scrap amount size 4 worsted weight yarn in Black
• Crochet hook size J/6.00 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
• Crochet hook size G/4.00 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker
• Fibre fill
• 2 x black buttons, 2 white buttons ONLY if this item is intended for children over 3 years of age

Notes
• Corduroy’s legs, body and head are worked in one piece.
• Corduroy is worked in continuous rounds from the bottom up.
• Corduroy stands roughly 12 inches tall.
• 2 strands worsted weight yarn held together may be substituted for bulky yarn, with no alterations needed to the pattern.
• Corduroy’s optional pocket is made with size 4 worsted weight yarn and smaller hook
