Coreopsis Gloves
The patterns in this series are inspired by the many varieties of coreopsis in our garden. I love to see their bright faces as I take my morning stroll with Pup. Coreopsis flowers are profuse, bright and hard not to notice and even harder not to like in our summer garden. Some have dark green ferny airy leaves that are also highly ornamental even without the flowers. Their blooming season is very long, often lasting well into autumn. The colours can vary widely from cream to yellow, to pink and even lilac. The variety shown below is called “Heaven’s Gate” and is the inspiration for these gloves.
The gloves are worked in the round from the cuff up. Instructions are given for 2 circular needles, but dpn’s or magic loop may be substituted.
Both Chart as well as written are included. A pictoral tutorial of the stitch is also included as a separate file.
The gloved pictured used 40g of the Wollmeise (CC - pink) and 20g of the black (MC).
A smaller glove can be made by casting on 8 fewer stitches.
You can use a single colour for the contrast or group several colours together into stripes.
This is a quick and easy pattern for using up precious partial skeins of leftover sock yarn.
