The floors of many houses in Portugal are made of stone or tiles, which stay nice and cool during the summer months. To prevent one’s feet from getting a bit chilly in the evenings, homemade socks in the different colours of nature offer a great way of keeping one’s feet warm. The first yarn takes up the colours of the orange and lemon trees that bear fruit everywhere and contrasts them with the purple-red tones of Bougainvillea and Jacaranda trees. This knitting pattern reminds me of nature flourishing everywhere. The second yarn reminds me of fresh leaves in spring or fading skies and sandy yellow soil in autumn. I have combined this colour spectrum with a small cable pattern to emulate the waves of the sea.

Viele Häuser in Portugal haben Stein- oder Fliesenböden, die im Sommer angenehm kühl bleiben. Da bieten selbst-gestrickte Strümpfe in den vielfältigen Farben der Natur zum Abend hin Schutz vor Fußkälte. Die eine Wolle nimmt die Farben der Orangen- und Zitronenbäume auf, die überall Früchte tragen, und kontrastiert diese mit den Lila-Rot-Tönen von Bougainvillea und Jacaranda-Bäumen. Die zweite Wolle erinnert mich an frisches Laub im Frühjahr oder verblassenden Himmel und den sandigen, gelben Boden im Herbst. Dieses Farbspektrum habe ich kombiniert mit einem kleinen Zopfmuster, das die Wellen des Meeres nachempfindet.
