Cornelia Street
Cornelia Street is another design in my location series - and surprise, surprise - it’s New York again! <3
Based on a beautiful street in New York, this shawl features steady garter sections intermittent with eyelet sections - reminiscent of the shops and apartments jutting out from either side of the gorgeous Cornelia Street.
The 6-row eyelet repeats are simple, and easy to memorize - making this shawl the perfect “pick-up-and-go” project!
Finished Measurements:
Sample measures at 6.5’ length by 6’ width (at the widest point)
Gauge: 26 sts x 48 rows = 4” in garter stitch
Yarn: 2 skeins of Knit Picks Gloss in the Hawk colorway, 1 skein of Knit Picks Palette in the Victorian colorway, and 1 skein each of Knit Picks Gloss Lace (held double) in the Cranberry and Garnet Heather colorways
Note: The lace weight yarns above are intended to be held double with themselves so as to achieve a fingering weight gauge. You can substitute these two colorways for fingering weight instead
OR - 1 skein of fingering weight in your main color (approx 440 yards) and 1 skein each of 3 contrast colors (approx 250 yards each)
This pattern is easily adaptable to use mini-skeins or scraps - I’ve included instructions on how to weigh your yarn with a digital scale to make this shawl easy to switch up colors whenever you want!
Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles on a 40 inch cable
Additional Supplies: Digital scale (if desired), stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle, scissors
Skills involved: Increasing, decreasing, simple eyelets, garter tab cast on
Pattern is fairly beginner friendly. The bulk of the shawl is knit in garter stitch, with only 1 row of eyelets per 6-row repeat. Nothing in this design is overly complicated!
