This pattern can be used with any weight yarn, and the hook sizes are just suggestions for what I used in my sample. 5.0mm with worsted weight yarn came out 10”.

You can stop after row 5 (after adding a border), or continue and work to make the motif larger. I used 12 colors in my example, worsted weight version.
