k - knit
p - purl
pm - place marker
p2tog - purl two together
ms - make star -purl three stitches together, leaving the original three stitches on the left needle, wrap the yarn around the right needle and then purl the same three stitches again

Pattern Notes
Knit bottom up and seamless. The mitts are also knit inside out because the star stitch is much easier to make when you’re purling the three stitches together.
